See how Designer Pool Covers has transformed pools across South Africa with automatic, safety and thermal solutions

Family Safety Upgrade — Sandton Estate
Challenge
Two children under five. Existing pool fence was an eyesore and didn't meet updated SANS 10134 requirements. The family wanted a solution that combined safety with aesthetics.
Solution
Installed a PoolLock hydraulic vinyl cover with 250 kg/m² load capacity. The cover deploys in under 60 seconds and locks with a key switch, meeting all SANS 10134 compliance requirements. Removed the existing fence entirely.
Result
Full SANS 10134 compliance achieved. Insurance premium reduced. Pool area aesthetics dramatically improved. Children cannot access the water unsupervised.
"The cover has given us complete peace of mind. Our children can play in the garden knowing the pool is fully secured. It's the best investment we've made for our home."
— The Mitchell Family, Sandton, Gauteng

Coastal Retrofit — Camps Bay Villa
Challenge
Existing 12-year-old pool with no cover. Harsh Atlantic coast conditions — salt spray, strong southeaster winds, and cool evenings. The family wanted to extend their swimming season and reduce chemical costs.
Solution
Retrofitted a PoolDeck slatted cover with solar polycarbonate slats and marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware. Top-track installation kept disruption to a minimum — completed in a single day.
Result
Pool temperature increased by 8–10°C through passive solar heating. Chemical usage reduced by approximately 50%. Swimming season extended from 4 months to 10 months. No corrosion after two full Cape winters.
"We can now swim from September to June — something we never thought possible in Camps Bay. The solar slats heat the pool naturally and the marine-grade hardware has handled everything the Atlantic throws at it."
— The Fourie Family, Camps Bay, Cape Town

New-Build Integration — Waterkloof Estate
Challenge
Architect-designed new build with a large lap pool. The cover needed to be invisible when retracted — no visible housing or tracks. Integration had to be planned from foundation stage.
Solution
Worked with the architect and pool builder from foundation stage. Designed a below-deck housing pit for the cover mechanism. The cover retracts completely below the deck surface, creating a seamless finish.
Result
Visually seamless integration — the cover is invisible when retracted. Full automation via remote control and wall-mounted key switch. Hail protection through two Highveld storm seasons with zero damage to polycarbonate slats.
"Our architect recommended Designer Pool Covers because they could integrate the cover from the blueprint stage. The result is a completely flush finish that you wouldn't know was there until you press the button."
